5/6 - Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring Plank vs. Solid Hardwood Floor Border Inlays

Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring Plank vs. Solid Hardwood Floor Border Inlays (5/6)

This material analyses the compatibility between the solid prefinished, 20 mm thick, hardwood flooring plank and the solid unfinished inlay - whether they are borders or medallions.

The hardwood floor border inlay (also named ”wood floor borders” or ”parquet borders”) shown in the left side of the image is worked at a 10 mm thickness. This border (this is valid for the hardwood floor medallion inlays too) is built solid (top-to-bottom made from a single piece of solid hardwood) is compatible with solid hardwood flooring or parquet flooring. Our inlays are delivered as unfinished (no finish whatsoever applied to the surface).

The installation is done in the traditional way: glue down-sanding-finishing. On the right side of the above image is solid prefinished hardwood flooring plank. This type of hardwood flooring is composed from a single piece of solid hardwood, top-to-bottom. The top layer situated above the T&G (tongue and groove) level has a 6 mm thickness. The fact that this hardwood flooring type comes factory-prefinished while our inlays are unfinsihed (without any finish on the surface) makes the installation compatibility rather improbable. To accomodate them both with good results the installation should be done the traditional way so the factory pre-finish should be removed.
Our conclusion is: incompatible with the inlays.
